Today I collected Then There Was Us from the printers Hobs. I wanted 300 gram paper on the outside and 12 on the inside and I also asked for  perfect bound.

Everything id perfect with the magazine except for the print. The images came out much too dark but there are only a few of them that are like this. I will not be printing with Hobs again as a result of this. Overall I am proud of the magazine and I think it looks great.

Yesterday I completed the McQueen website. By creating this website I learned certain things like coding and I have progressed with my knowledge of how to style a website. This will help me for future clients. I informed my client that that everything was finished and she wrote to me the next day via Facebook;

Knowing that my client is happy has encouraged me to pursue a more confident approach to my future work. Sarah has now asked me to do work for her other shop Fonda. As you can see from the above messages Sarah wants me to do the work for nothing. I told her we can discuss prices when I come to she her how to operate the website.

Today I have sent the magazine to print. I have corrected small changes that I noticed when I turned the file into a PDF. These issue have now been changed and I am 100 percent sure that the magazine should go out for print. I have gave the magazine to a number of people to read and they have gave me there feedback as to what they would change and what they like. By getting such feedback I have changed certain things in the magazine such as making some images smaller and moving images away from the inside seem of the imagine as they were too close. Feedback such as this is important.

Working with my client was a huge learning curve for my career. Throughout this blog I have been at a loss as to why my client was holding things back but I later realised that she also has a lot of things going on in her life and I have to respect that as I am sure she respects the work I have done of the shop. I am glad my client wasn’t there spoon feeding me throughout this brief because I would not have the knowledge I do now. I am now confident that I can walk into any job and grasp a firm hold on how I show approach the job at hand. Working with Sarah was hard at times because she didn’t give me a clear idea of what exactly she wanted. At the time I took this as an insult but I now appreciate that everybody has different ways of working and Sarah has hers and I have mine. By completing this project with little help I learned so much about my abilities as a photographer and as a person.

Today I have completed the McQueen website. I have resized all the images I took during the three shoots. Sarah sent over scanned images that she had that archive the fashion that has come through the store in the 20 tears since it has opened. Building this website was brilliant and it taught me important things I I will will take forward in the future. Thanks to Sarah I was able to be part of an important part of the shops history.

I started on creating the website properly this week. The reason I have only now begun to work on the website is because my client has gotten round to putting  her details into the website. Without this info I was limited to what I could actually do with the website. For example I could add the domain because my client didn’t have a domain. These things since been rectified but I am still chasing down my client in order to get scanned images that she wants to include into the archival section of the website. The archival section will include news articles of things that happen in the store in previous years. Along with the news articles I will include old images that were taking over the years that document the fashion in the store.ImageImage

What I am now waiting on is my client to scan old images and to send them over to me. When I asked her for these she said she might not have time. I will be forced to submit this website before it is done as my client does not have time to scan pictures. Hopefully I she will do this and I can complete the website because I like to finish what I start.

This week I have created my Lookbook. The lookbook contains the images I shot for my client on the first two shoots. I chose not to include the image I shot of the archival clothing because it would have devalued the Lookbook, and since my client hasn’t expressed that she wants the lookbook then I have chosen to put whatever I want in. For the layout of the book I have chosen to show close up details of the clothing and the the next image would be the same image but the full view. When it came time to print the book I used Printed.com. I created a PDF file for the book and I then sent it of to the with bleeds and crop marks. Printed.com contacted me and told me that I have sent the wrong requirements for print. I then amended the flaws and sent the book of again. This time everything was fine.

By completing all of these small tasks helps me to learn something new everyday about InDesign and other programs.

These are some pages from the Lookbook;
